  • Italy, Alinari

In 1852 in Florence, Leopoldo Alinari, together with his brothers Giuseppe and Romualdo, founded the photographic studio, specializing in portraits and photos of works of art and historical monuments.

Fratelli Alinari is the oldest photographic firm in the world, and its archives contain over four million photographs, ranging from daguerreotypes to recent digital photographs. As early as 1840, these pioneering photographers captured life in portraits and street scenes, leaving us with an incomparable historical record.

The richness of this collection allows us to discover the archaeological remains and major Italian monuments fixed in the state, with a truly creative aesthetic in the composition of the images.
